Detroit, Michigan, United States
After inadvertently causing the suicide of a stranger she serves eviction papers to, a jaded bank foreclosure agent who has difficulty empathizing with others is sentenced to community service at a Detroit crisis hotline.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT SUICIDE CLUB is a one-hour procedural "dramedy" which follows the lives of five crisis hotline volunteers who help guide callers in crisis, while simultaneously working out their own personal problems.
Similar to medical procedural series such as E.R. or GREY'S ANATOMY (except set at a crisis hotline instead of a hospital), there are "cases of the week" that the crisis team tackles at the workplace, but then we also see, after their shift is over, how these high-stakes calls resonate with the lead characters once they go home and return to their everyday lives. In the case of WEDNESDAY NIGHT SUICIDE CLUB, the lead characters aren't doctors, but ordinary people from different backgrounds who, for very different reasons, volunteer their time to help total strangers in their most troubled moments.
